Dive deep into Iceland's best-kept secrets on a super truck tour to Dynjandi Waterfall with an expert local guide. This Westfjords tour from Isafjordur is perfect for adventure seekers, nature lovers, and travelers who want a truly off-the-beaten-path experience.
The Westfjords region is dramatic, remote, and almost entirely untouched by mass tourism. Most visitors to Iceland never make it here, and that's exactly what makes this so special. On this Dynjandi tour, you will travel through beautiful roads and drive by a local farm to get a real feel for life in the Westfjords.
This 5-hour Dynjandi Waterfall tour offers more than a great view. You'll have a local guide who knows every corner of the Westfjords.
The tour begins with departure from Isafjordur, the capital of the Westfjords. You’ll board a specially equipped super truck designed to handle all types of terrain in every season, and set off to explore the region.
After a scenic drive from Isafjordur, your group will arrive at Arnarfjordur Fjord, where Dynjandi awaits in all its glory. Before you head out, your guide will tell you everything you need to know about the waterfall and how to safely hike the rocky steps. You'll have a full hour to explore.
Dynjandi is one of Iceland's most spectacular waterfalls, and one of its most peaceful. Standing at 329 feet (100 meters) tall, it fans out in a wide, dramatic curtain of white water as it tumbles down rocky steps. Unlike Iceland's busier waterfalls, Dynjandi feels wonderfully remote and crowd-free.
A walking path leads past several smaller waterfalls before reaching the main cascade. Follow the trail higher for sweeping views over the fjord, or stop at the base and enjoy the sound of rushing water filling the valley.
If you prefer to stay back, Dynjandi is clearly visible from the parking area, so you can soak up the view without hiking. In summer, keep an eye on the waters of Arnarfjordur, just on the other side of the road, as humpback whales are regularly spotted surfacing in the fjord. Restroom facilities are also available at this stop.
After taking in the beauty of the waterfall, your Dynjandi tour stops at Hrafnseyri Cafe for some optional coffee and cake (at your own expense).
You'll also pass Audkula Farm, home to a large colony of eider ducks during breeding season. Eider ducks are large sea birds known for their soft feathers used for bedding materials. If you're lucky, you might even spot a king eider, a rare and colorful relative that occasionally visits the area.
If conditions allow, your guide will take you back across the mountains on one of two scenic heath roads, Hrafnseyrarheidi or Alftamyrarheidi. These roads are only open in the summer months and offer stunning views that make for a beautiful end to this Westfjords tour.
If the mountain roads are not passable, you will drive back through the tunnels instead. Either way, you are in good hands.
One of Iceland's most beautiful waterfalls is waiting for you on this super truck Dynjandi Waterfall tour with a farmstead stop led by a local expert. Check availability now by choosing a date.
